COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This year’s race will follow our normal GoPro Mountain Games Après 5K Course with a few tweaks. The course will be about 3.1 miles long. The modified course will start next to Gondola One in Vail Village and follow a variety of mountain roads and single track on Vail Mountain.
The finish will be at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Ford Park to accommodate social distancing measures as well as provide a safe and fun post-race environment to enjoy some entertainment including a showing of The Barkley Marathons movie.
There will be two aid stations on-course with water and Gatorade. As a reminder, to help reduce our reliance on single-use cups racers must bring their own container or hydration system
PRE-RACE BIB PICKUP:
Racers can pick up their race numbers ahead of time on Friday, August 14th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Ford Park Tennis Center located at 700 S Frontage Rd E. in Vail.
Day-of bib pickup will also be available at the race start on Saturday afternoon. Please refer to the wave start/arrival time to determine when you can pick up your bib on race day. Please don’t arrive prior to your wave’s designated arrival time to ensure we are able to properly distance runners.
Please wear a mask when picking up your bib.
AFTER PARTY & PRIZES:
It’s an Après 5k after all! The race finish will take place inside of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. The bars will be open and we’ll have some Mountain Games videos playing before the main event; The Barkley Marathons movie starting at 6:30.
If you just want to come for the movie, don’t worry, just sign up for the race, pick up your bib and come to The Amp. Your race bib is your entry ticket to the movie!
There will be prizes for 1st place overall Men & Women finishers. We’ll also have a raffle during the event and winners will be able to pick up their cool swag at The Amp after the finish.
