HEAD-TO-HEAD RACING
The GoPro Mountain Games Dual Slalom event will feature head-to-head racing as two riders at a time battle down the Minturn Bike Park track.

A differential is taken from one rider to the next, then racers switch sides and battle it out again, until the top three are standing on the podium. Be prepared for tight berms, big rollers, and exciting jumps!

Format & Seeding:
- Race officials reserve the right to combine categories based on registrations.
- Qualifying round:
- Each racer gets one timed run down each side of the slalom track. Their time is then combined. The fastest time of the two qualifying runs will be the first (fastest) place qualifier.
- The number of riders that will move on to the finals will be based on total number of athletes registered in each category.
- Finals:
- The fastest qualifier will be seeded against the slowest, the next fastest with the next slowest, etc.
RULES:
- Required Gear:
- Front and rear brakes
- Properly fitting bike helmet
- Protective gear is recommended for all riders.
- 20″ BMX bikes will not be allowed.
- Starts: The rider’s bicycle must be stationary and contacting the gate at the moment of the start. Failure to comply will be considered a false start.
- Runs: Alternating left and right, racers must ride around (not over) each gate, with both tire tracks passing on the outside of the gate. Failure to clear a gate shall be determined by gate judges located along the course, whose decision is final.
- Qualifying Rounds:
- Everyone will have at least one run for qualifying.
- A rider who has a DNS, DNF, or DSQ for infractions (See Penalties below) in the qualifying round will be eliminated from the competition.
- The fastest qualifier will be seeded against the slowest, the next fastest with the next slowest.
- In the event of a tie on total qualifying times, ties shall be broken at random for the higher seeded position. [coin flip, drawing lots].
- Everyone will have at least one run for qualifying.
- Dual Slalom: If the following infractions occur in the qualifying round, riders will receive a DSQ. If the infraction occurs in the rounds after qualifying, riders will be given a 1.5-second penalty for each infraction that occurs.
- Missing a gate
- False start
- Changing lanes
- Interfering with the other rider
- Not passing both wheels around a gate
- Missing a gate or not returning to course per the regulations.
- Not finishing in possession of the bike.
- Missing start time and delaying the program.
